Bank accounts

A bank account is the most popular financial product on the British market. How do you choose the best personal account and not fall for any of a bank’s tricks? What criteria should you be guided by? What should you do so as not to fall victim to the actors in the television commercials in their attempts to convince us of their particular bank?

The periodical Bankers assesses the offers of the majority of British banks. We take into consideration basic criteria such as charges for the provision of an account and internal and external transfers or the lack of them, the ability to obtain additional debit cards and their value, the transparency of agreements concerning the provision of the account as well as the lack of hidden charges and commission. As workers in the economic faculties in Britain we are aware that the ideal bank account should fulfill the following criteria:

1. £0 for the provision of the account – without a single loophole in the agreement and the so-called small print.
2. £0 for internal and external transfers.
3. A free debit card and free cashpoint charges.
4. The ability to obtain, free of charge, what is known as a prestige card, or a silver, gold or platinum card.
